Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Refusing Formula

My DD is 8 months and has been only BF until recently.  I have tried introducing formula but she has basically refused it.  I have heated it, tried all the brands, used the ready made kinds, mixed with BM, waited until she was really hungry, etc.  She is not having it (it's not a bottle issue as she will take BM from the bottle).  She usually takes 3 bottles while I am at work (9 hours total) and I now I can only pump enough for 2 (on a good day).  Any advice?  Would it be ok to drop to 2 bottles and add more solids?  Any tricks to transitioning to formula?

Re: Refusing Formula

  • I have no advice, but looking forward to what other people say.  My little guy has been FF since 6 weeks and now he is refusing to take his regular formula.  Now that he loves all solids, it's like he doesn't want anything but solids.  I am

  • I don't know about transitioning to formula.. if you nurse right before leaving, and as soon as you get home I think she will get what she needs from you when you're there. Does she nurse at night? How big are the bottles she's getting during the day?
