I'm really struggling with sleep here ladies.
DD is just over 3 months and night time sleep couldn't get much worse. Last week I was so excited because we had one night of 7.5 hours of sleep, and I thought, this is finally turning around! Nope. Nights have reverted back to lots of wakeups. Her long stretch will be a couple hours at most, then waking up inconsolable the rest of the night.
So -- did anyone have a bad sleeper they turned into a good one? How did you do it? At 4 months we'll start sleep training but is there anything else I can start now?
Right now we're working on establishing a more consistent night time routine (bath, story) and hoping that helps. She usually goes down between 7:30 and 8 and I'd like to start slowly pushing it earlier. I am also working toward a nap routine but that's proven to be really hard.
I know she can sleep well in her crib, it's happened before, so I don't think laying flat is the problem here. But we have tried moving her to the swing just to see and she sleeps just as poorly there at night.
Thanks for any advice and encouragement. Right now I feel so lost and helpless and it feels like I must be doing something wrong, and like we'll never sleep normally again. I go back to work next week and I'm really scared.
