Dinner Screaming

Starting last week DS has decided he will lean all the way over his tray, getting his food all over his shirt (or chest after clever Mommy stripped him) and scream through the entire meal.  He promptly stops and eats a huge dinner ... when I pick him up and hold him on my lap after finishing my own dinner.  He gives me kisses and snuggles, but nope, that still doesn't work for me.  20 minutes of screaming is a bit much. 

HELP on what to do at this age to quell this awful new development.
