8 month old not moving much

My 8 month old sits up and rolls front to back, but that's it.  Not even close to crawling or pulling himself up.  He also has never rolled back to front.  I think he only rolls from front to back because he hates being on his tummy.  I'm not necessarily worried, because I think he's just lazy.  But any suggestions for encouraging him to move more?  Basically when I lay him on his stomach he either flips right over on his back or lays there and cries.
