C-sections

Belly flap?

I'm not a conceited person.  This is actually a real question and I don't want to ask my doctor because I don't want to imply she didn't do a good job, so here it is...

After my first c-section, my belly was fine.  After the second one, I had a belly flap over my incision...  It wasn't pretty at all.  Do you know what causes it?  Is it because I had a second c-section?   Is it because something webt wrong during the procedure or healing?  I'm going in for a third, should I expect it to come back?

I'll probably find the courage to ask my doctor...  But until then, thank you!

Re: Belly flap?

  • I just had my first c section and I have the belly flap at the incision too...sad face. I assumed it was normal, but maybe not. I'll be interested to hear what others have to say!

  • I am jealous that you didn't have one the first time because I've had it both times! Just when it was looking better from DS1 I got pregnant again and now I'm starting all over. I am curious what others say because I just assumed it was because of the ext

  • Like PP, I'm jealous you didn't have the belly flap the first go around.

It's not that anything went wrong, nor would there have been much you could have done to prevent it. Your body is layered: skin, fat, muscle, uterus. When you're being stitc

  • I do not have it, but I also didn't gain a lot of weight. I gained about 20 pounds, maybe that has something to do with it?

It's not just csection moms that get it. All that  extra skin has to hang somewhere.

  • I had that after my first c-section and for my RCS my doctor said she'd do everything she could to try to fix it -- and it looks 1000 times better and I no longer have a flap.

  • I am SO glad I found this discussion board! I too just had my second c section and after my first, I did not remember any kind of belly flap at all. This time around though, it is definitely more prominent and it's very disheartening. My LO is currentl

  • wow I never knew someone not to have one :) so essentially you lucked out after your first!  The thing is that its extra skin.  The dr.'s try to pull your skin down as much as possible, but lets face it your skin has been stretched out, your

  • After my first c section my belly looked horrific, I had a bulging over hang of stretched skin over my scar. It really knocked my confidence very badly. I am now pregnant again, and will be having a second c section. They enter through the same scar, and
