Should we get a swingset now or later??

DH and I were thinking about getting a Katie a swingset for her birthday. I'm just not sure if she is ready for it now or should we wait until next year.

I hate how Christmas and her birthday are so close together for her big presents. It's like Bam-bam then she has to wait a whole year again. She was originally due in March and that would have been perfect- oh well- she had other plans

If we don't do the swingset, we will probably get her a reading chair of some sorts and a play table. I just can't decide.

What is later? I think we will be getting DS a swing set this summer, but we may wait until next year. Same here with the birth date my EDD was March3. He just had to come early and throw me off. I am doing a reading chair for his 1st birthday.

Well I see you live in OH - so personally she wouldn't be using it much in the winter anyway. I would go for the inside things that she can use now. We have a play set out back and to be honest we didn't use it as much as I thought we would. We got it when Paige was about 7-8 months for her 1st birthday - I think she will enjoy it much more this Summer - when she is almost 2. Can you split up her presents. Maybe get her Christmas presents at Christmas ( you can still have a party for her birthday if you like) but get her a big gift for her birthday at maybe her 1/2 birthday - she would have two special birthday days. Just a thought. That is what my friend does because one of her girls was born right at Thanksgiving and the other at Christmas so they just celebrate in June/July! (but the girls still get gifts from Grandparents and others on their b-day) GL!

i know, this sucks. i asked my mom to get the boys a sand table for christmas. we'll just put it away until the summer.

For summer you can always get one of those baby/toddler swings that you can hang anywhere.

Then I would wait until closer to 2 for a full fledged swing set.

Definitely wait until next birthday/christmas. She wouldn't get much use out of it this coming summer but next summer she will love it.

We're planning on getting a swingset this spring. DD#1 will be almost 3.5 which I think is PERFECT for a set. We are getting a Rainbow set, so they are pretty complicated.

If you're thinking of a simple Little Tikes set, it's fine. I personally would wait until next year.?

I'm going to have to jump on board with waiting. There are still lots of fun "big presents" that you can get, including the reading chair, or, if you have room, maybe a small slide for inside. There are some cute ones that fold up. DD is 22 months and if we had a yard, we'd still be waiting until at least the summer to get a swingset.
