We had a ton of problems w/ BF'ing (mastitis at 1.5 weeks, vasospasms, high palate, extremely low supply, etc.) DD was born on 3/15, I decided to switch to FF on 3/27. I had really low supply (was barely getting 3.5 oz/day). I still decided to gradually wean since I was still fighting off the mastitis. So I pumped a few times a day until 3/31. I pumped for the last time in the evening of 3/31 and barely got an oz total. I used cabbage leaves, sudafed & benadryl in the days following. One side (the left side where I didn't have mastitis) dried up relatively quickly but now almost 2 weeks later my right side is STILL leaking!
Did anyone else have this problem? I am wondering if this is just because this is my 3rd time lactating? I am wondering what else I can be doing...I am still taking antihistamines and sudafed occasionally- I never feel engorged but I still am having to wear a breast pad on the right side daily and it gets completely filled by the end of the day and when I go to shower or DD cries I leak a decent amount. What the heck is going on?? Any tips on how to dry up completely? I never had this problem when I quit pumping for DS or DD. The left side still does have some milk if I squeeze it but no leaking thankfully. I am REALLY sick of waking up to wet spots when I'm not even nursing anymore (and it frustrates me b/c where was this milk when I was trying to nurse?! I'm sure in reality its not much total but I just want to be done with it b/c I am sad enough I couldn't nurse and random leaking is just prolonging me getting over that). Any advice would be appreciated!
Re: s/o drying up milk
so do antihistamines reduce your supply? I took some for a few days because the pollen count in atlanta has been out of control and i was miserable...but i dont want to lose my milk supply... i didnt realize it would affect it. I saw online
