If you cloth diaper and have a HE washer does it actually clean the diapers? We are getting a new machine but I am nervous about HE because it seems they don't clean cloth all that thoroughly or you have to do several extra rinses..

Yes, they get clean. We do a rinse then add soap and do a hot wash with extra rinse.

I do a pre-wash on mine, wash with hot water and then two extra rince cycles. I don't use much soap at all, but there are still some suds left at the end of the first extra rinse. I'm going to start stripping monthly with RLR, so I might back down to just

I do a cold wash first, no detergent, no spin, extra water, and a sopping wet towel in there too.

Then a hot wash, medium spin, detergent, and extra rinse.
