Baby's head bobbing back and forth?

So this weird thing happened today, which ultimately led us to the emergency room. Ethan started bobbing his head from right to left repetitively about 8 to 10 times. He sort of spaced out while he was doing it, which completely freaked me out. Thank god my Mom was here and saw it. It happened once earlier in the week and I literally thought he was shaking his head no at me, so I didn't think anything of it. Today was different though. My fear was that it was a seizure and when we called the Dr on call, they said the same. After 5 hours at the ER and no real answers, we are home. We have a follow up with a neurologist to get further testing. I'm hoping and praying it's something easily explained. I also managed to get an iPhone video of it happening, which helped us explain it to the neurologist at the hospital. Any thoughts and prayers that it's something completely normal would be so much appreciated.

  • No reassurance but that would freak me out, too! T&Ps! Hope Ethan's ok and that it was nothing serious.

  • You're in mt thoughts for sure. Babies do such random things so fx it's just something like that!

  • Hopefully it is just an immature nervous system. That sounds scary. I'm sorry. Sending positive thoughts your way.

  • I'm sorry, that does sound scary. If it is any comfort, Charlotte does that all day, and nothing seems to be wrong with her. She thinks it's funny. Thoughts with you that all is okay!

I just want to add in that DD does it too. Sometimes repeatedly for a few minutes. She never spaces out per say, but

  • This may make me a bad mom, or maybe I'm misunderstanding what your LO is doing, but E does this a lot and it never worried me.  She'll shake her head vigorously, then kind of space out while she readjusts.  I think she just likes/is intrig

  • Hyaline, it seemed more uncontrolled. Like he wasn't doing it on purpose. I think I might not be explaining it right.
