New here - we've made the decision to adopt.

I'm so excited - this really feels "right" to DH & I.  We are researching potential agencies, but are struggling to know where to begin.  I look forward to "talking" with all of you and learning from your experiences!

    Welcome to the board!!!  The gals here are great and I hope you'll post often and get the support that you need and also let us celebrate with you along the way.  It is a bit overwhelming at the beginning, but ultimately it's about first finding the right fit for your family and deciding when you say 'adoption' whether you and your DH mean international, domestic infant, foster-to-adopt...  When you make that choice first then you will find it narrows down a lot of the details for you.  Go to your local library and check out 'the complete adoption book' as well.  It's not only about process, in fact there are tons of resources for that, but moreso about how adoption is going to affect and influence your family decisions in general and how to prepare yourself for the future and for welcoming your child.
    Anyway, welcome and I hope we'll get to know you a lot better.

    Congrats! You'll love this board! We took a class to learn about adoption but when it came time to call agencies we flipped open the yellow pages adn started calling every agency to ask if they do our type of adoption (domestic newborn) and then some other prelim questions. Good luck with everything!
