Weaning before bed bottle

This is my first time posting on this board but I thought that most of you have probably dropped the before the bed bottle. A little background, LO will be 12 months on Friday. He was nursed until 13 months and bottle weaned (all but the before bed one at around 12 months) I LOVE our routine, bath, books, bottle then he puts himself to sleep. I know what I need to cut this feeding out but I don't know how. I was thinking the first step in putting the milk in a sippy, then start reducing the amount. Does he eventually not need it? Do you guys just read and then lay your LO down to sleep? I am nervous about changing his rountine because he is sleeping so well, that messing with it makes me scared. TIA

  • So your LO is having a bottle and then putting himself to sleep?  So he's not using the bottle to fall asleep with?  If that's the case than I don't see what the problem is.

  • I just stopped giving it to him a couple months ago.  I kept everything else about the routine the same, and he adapted after a week or so.  If you feel like it's time for you LO to be off the bed bottle, it doesn't have to be too compli

  • My girls on their own started staying up later after their last bottle so now they eat dinner around 430/5pm  and then have their last bottle of milk around 5:30pm and are usually in bed/ asleep around 7pm

  • Just try skipping it one night and see what happens. Or even better, wait for a night when he's REALLY tired and skip that one. If he doesn't fuss, he'll be ok. Kids adapt quickly. When he's ready he'll skip the bottle and if he's not, he'll let you know.
