who to invite?

Today my DH mentioned to me did I want to know anything about my baby shower. I think someone must have contacted him. Well I said that I did not want to plan my own baby shower but if people were wondering who to invite I could provide a list. I said that it really would not be that many people. he said that he thought the same thing until he started thinking about it and then he realized that there actually were a decent amount of people. He started to name some people that I would not have necessarily put on the list. He does not want anyone to be offended by not being invited. Am I right to think that the shower is mostly for close friends and family.

Another delemia is I would think that the people at my school will throw me a shower but there is a chance since I am due in late september that if there are complications I may not start the school year. Anyway even if I do start the school year; one person on my team invited our whole grade level team to her outside of school shower since our team is pretty close. Some people found it odd since there would be a school shower too but others were glad that they were invited to the friends and family shower.

Sorry for the long post....any suggestions in general about my guest list would be appreciated. Thanks!

You are correct. Showers are for close family and friends. Not "everyone you know". It's a gift giving event and to invite someone is to ask them to buy a gift. You should only do that of people you're close to.

Exactly, this is something for close friends and family. Most reasonable people are not offended by not being invited to a baby shower.
