Babies: 6 - 9 Months

When did you change your infant car seat to Convertible?

My daughter is almost 8 months old and has outgrown her car seat... she is already 29" long. So I am searching for the best new car seat that she will be safe and comfortable in.  Also, when using a convertible seat and taking baby in the store- do you just use the shopping cart cover to put baby in? Because at 20.10 pds- she is getting very heavy to carry in the car seat? :)

  • We switched to a convertible at 4 months old, but my baby is larger than most.  We got the Safety First Complete Air convertible seat.  We love it and it has a couple different settings as they grow.  Yes, in the store I just use the shoppi

  • We switched at 6.5 months. At LO's 6 month appointment he was about 20 pounds and 28 inches, so he still technically fit in his infant seat, but he was not liking to be laying down that much anymore, he wanted to be upright.

    We got the Chicco Nex

  • We just switched ours over a few weeks ago. My daughter is 8 months. Her head was almost all the way at the top of the infant seat and her feet almost touched the seat of the car, so we knew it was time. We have the S1 by Safety 1st.

  • We just got our convertible seat.  DS is almost to the length of outgrowing his infant seat.  I have been leaving the infant seat in the car most of the time and just carry him in the Beco (soft structured carrier) when we go shopping.

  • We never used an infant seat because my DS weighed over 9 pounds at birth. I knew he would be big and didn't want to have to buy another car seat so soon. We have a graco one that we bought and a safety first on that someone gave to us. They are very simi
  • Also, most local hospitals or fire departments have car seat experts that will make sure it is properly installed. They can be super hard to get right, but my DS loves it because he is upright and can see everything.
  • Haven't made the switch yet but I want to. I am trying to get a different vehicle and that will be the detemining factor.

Albeebaby.com has awesome deals. Found Britax at 50% off or more and free shipping on orders over $49.

    Good luck!
