Summer preschool...wwyd?

We just moved to California in March.  I have been trying to find a preschool for DD, both for her benefit and so I can go back to work. So far everything is booked.  even the tours book weeks out.  I go to a preschool tomorrow which is full but has opening only for the summer.  It is a 6 week program at Montessori. She would then be on wait list for the fall.  here is my dilemma:

She REALLY misses playing with kids.   we have no friends here yet and i think she is lonely for other kids.  If I sign her up she will get 6 weeks of playtime.  But she also repeatedly says she wants to move back to Seattle to her old school.  I'm worried if I start in a 6 week school by the time she gets fully adjusted it will be almost over.  And then she will have to leave another school.

But if I dont take the spot we may have nothing.  Im really torn.  Thanks for any thoughts...

  • If you are definitely going back to work, go ahead and put her in because it's better than nothing.  If you are on the fence about going back to work, look around in your area for summer activities.  I know around here (and we live in a little t

  • If you decide not to put her in the preschool, check out your new county's department of recreation website for a preschool summer camp.

  • We are in the exact same spot moving to CA. I would sign her up and see how it goes. I think having an easy avenue to meet people is nice. Talking with other mom's can have a wealth of knowledge about the area. So much easier than trying to "blind date" ;

  • Moving is hard!  I'd sign her up--I bet she'll really enjoy it.  We moved in the middle of the year last year, and my older DD still talks about her old preschool and her friends from last year, but she also loves her class this year.
  • I'd sign her up!
