Extreme insect phobia!

Yay spring is here! Too bad I can't go outside now... We just moved into a house the appeared to have green bushes and trees all around the house, It looked lovely. Now that the warmer weather is here, I've gotten the surprise of flowers EVERYWHERE. For most people, this would be a nice surprise, but it make me want to cry. I have a pretty bad bee/wasp phobia. And roaches... and I know that it's completely irrational, but I honestly can't help it. I've always had this phobia, ever since I can remember. Now that I love in my own house, it's become a problem. My husband isn't home all of the time and if there is a roach inside, ill grab the baby and leave... If a bee is blocking my door, ill sit in the car or leave. It completely paralyzes me. I try really really hard to get over it, but once I hear that buzzing I'm mush. I flail which I know makes it worse and run, scream, cry, the works. It's not even the fear of the sting, I don't get it. But now my house is surrounded with bees and wasps, though I don't see any nests anywhere, and now I just can't even leave. I have wasp traps out there and I've even asked my husband to go out there with scissors and cut all of the flowers off of the bushes. And he refuses because he said that its an irrational fear. I KNOW THAT IT MAKES NO SENSE! But nonetheless, it's debilitating. I have a very mild bee alergy, I've been stung once, and I just swell up really bad, nothing life threatening. What do i do? Everyone I talk to just treats me like I'm being ridiculous. Should I jut stick out the spring and summer in my house? I'm prepared to do that... Is there any good methods to repel the bees and wasps, yes even the pollinating and honey bees. I have tried for years to get over this, but it's just not working...

  • If this phobia is pretty much turning you into an agoraphobe, maybe you need to seek out some professional help.

  • If you're not opposed to chemicals, get some wasp/bee spray and indoor/outdoor bug spray and ask your DH to spray everything. If you are opposed to chemicals, I'm not sure what you could do. I'm sorry you have to deal with such a horrible phobia. I unders

  • Hugs. We had an issue last spring/summer with spider crickets under our house and occasionally one would get in the house and I'd freak. It paralyzes me. I'm VERY afraid of spiders and these things jump. Ugh..it's just awful. We called an exterminator and

  • I am the same way, though not quite to the same extreme. I do sit in my car and look around before getting out. Last year we had a few hornets around, and I was so terrified. DH kept trying to find the nest, but he never could. I second the suggestion of
