2 yr old bday party ideas?

My nephew will be two this month and his mom has done so much as send out invitations for the party which is in 2 weeks and that's it... She is having some family/financial issues of her own and I completely understand why she hasn't done anything else for the party.

I called her last night to let her know that I would plan the party and pay for anything I bought for the party. She was so emotional at the fact that she couldn't buy much for the party and was refusing I help, but I'm not going to let that stop me. The kid needs his 2 yr old birthday party, come on now...

He loves spider man and balls. I'm thinking a spider man theme - duh! But I was thinking we need some fun activities to do. We were originally having the party at my house and that is going to remain the same - but since I don't have any kid toys in my backyard (pregnant with my first) we are trying to come up with ideas for things to do.

What are some creative ideas for activities/games we can do at the party?

    Not sure if it would be in your budget, but we rented a bounce house for about 90 bucks for DS's 2nd bday, and that was all the entertainment they needed!  I would maybe also set up a table with some dollar store coloring books, crayons, and play

    What about a silly string fight-would the cans be easy enough for a 2 yr old to use? You can get that stuff for cheap and its spiderman-ish!

    We had children ranging from 14 months - 5 years at my son's 2nd birthday party (most guests were between 1 and 2) and I didn't do anything besides have the toys out. It would be difficult to engage children that age in group activities. Party gam

    For DS's second bday I just had some big toys in a designated space of the place (used a rubber alphabet mat for that), a ball pit (just an inflatable pool with about 400 plastic balls), lots of baloons on the floor and later on a pull string pina

    depends on the ages of the kids--at 2 yrs old you can probably do like 1 game.  SSetting up a coloring table with crayons and sheets themed to the party is a fun/easy/cheap idea.  Play doh is always a hit.
