Pedi after HB

If you had a HB, how long after did you take LO to the pedi for the first time? My MW comes to check on us between 24-48 hours, and again at 6 weeks, and she also provides NB check ups at those times. Did you take LO to the pedi in addition to this? If so, when?

    My MW does all pp care for LO and I until 6 weeks. So the first time LO sees the pedi is at 8 weeks.

    Switched after six weeks. Where I live, midwives are licensed as primary care providers for pregnant and postpartum women, and newborns.

    I only went to get a bilirubin test b/c my MW had never done one before and LO had jaundice about four days after birth.

    I think going to a LLL meeting or group weigh-in (my LC office offers one once a week) is a mandatory visit for homebirthers

    We took my DD in around 10 days, I believe. If things check out and there aren't issues that crop up and I know baby is feeding well, we'd do maybe 1-2 weeks this time, when I feel up for it. DD had a hematoma that we wanted checked out.

    For this one (our first HB) my pedi asked for us to bring her in the following day, my MW said we could probably wait 'a few days' and didn't really need to rush out of the house just for the pedi if all seems ok.

    We took my son to his pediatrician at 3 weeks.  I wasn't in a hurry at all, but we really like our pedi (have the same one for both my kids) and trust him and just thought it'd be nice to visit and introduce them and get his stats on the books. &nbsp
