DS is about 7.5 months old. Lately, it seems like he wants to be held 24/7 or, if he is playing on the floor or in his jumper, he wants you right there interacting with him 24/7 or he throws a fit. I feel like I cannot get anything done...not clean bottles, not make a phone call, not pay bills, etc. We have a nanny who stays with him 3 days a week (I work 3 days) and I know she gives him a lot of attention--she really does not do much housework...which means I have to do it on my days off. Unfortunately, when I am off (especially on weekdays), I need to get a few things done.
Is this wanting to be held and have someone with him constantly normal? Is this a phase? Do you think he is getting spoiled? I know they say you can't spoil an infant, but can you spoil a child this old? And I end up holding him and carrying him around so much, I've actually ended up with pinched nerves in my neck twice-including currently. It is really starting to wear me down to the point that sometimes I even consider going back to work full-time. He is not a very good napper either so I don't even get that relief.
Edit: For typos. Also, wearing him does not work either. He hates it. We have tried 3 different carriers.
Re: LO super cranky and wants to be held 24/7
BUMP!
Our LO is 8 months and we are in the same boat! It started at about 7.5 months too.

If you've heard of the Wonder Weeks, there's one around this time that is supposed to create a fussy period for babies.

DS just turned 8 months last weekend and went through that phase starting around 7.5 months (he learned how to pull himself up during this time which didn't help). I thought I was going to lose my mind. I cursed myself for ever wanting a ma
Is he crawling yet? My little guy was like this as well (needed constant attention, to be held, etc) and I couldn't get anything done. He started crawling at 6 months and then its like a switch went off and he didn't need to be held every second

This might not be much consolation, but just try to be patient and know this phase will pass soon! By 9-10 months they start moving so much more on their own and will refuse to be held for more than a minute.
I would ask your nanny to ta
