Best swim gear for almost 2 yr old

HI Ladies,

Just looking for recommendations for the best swim gear/vest/ jacket that you have found for an almost 2 year old. Our vacation is in 2 months and I want to purchase something that will help keep him afloat and chin above water but also let him feel independent outside of a tube.

    I just bought a "puddle jumper" from Target. It was recommended by other moms. It seems really durable, but I have not tried it. I have friends who really love it for their 2-3 year olds.

    Usually private pools are different than public/state pools. In general they do not allow anything that isn't coast guard approved for life saving.

    This exactly.  In addition, if you end up with many of them in the same area or near a wall, they can prohibit a visual line of sight and trap other children (in particular) under water and preveny the guard from seeing the child in distress until so
