Recall memory...

So I have a 4 yr old preschooler who is school much of the day. When I pick her up, I like to ask her some basic questions about her day.
In the beginning she seemed to like to tell me a few things but now I have noticed she will repeat her answers from the previous day. For example what did you eat for a snack? She will say a bagel and then today when I ask she will say a bagel again but I know they had applesauce. Then I say hmm, are you sure it was a bagel because I think I had seen applesauce. She will reply oh yeah we did have applesauce.
I guess I'm just wondering if she has a poor memory recall or does not want to talk about her school day. Does your preschooler remember the day?

  • Good point from Laura! Maybe she is bored with questions. I just wanted to try make some sort of conversation with her and she loved it when I ask her questions :

  • DD always answers "I don't know". If I say did you play with Paige or Caitlin she then says something specific "I played with Paige and Alex". I found specific questions help. But she never remembers food.

  • The other parents and I joke that our kids took a fight club oath when it comes to preschool. "What happens at preschool, stays at preschool". My DD never expanded on details of her day until I started asking more targeted questions. I would look at the c

  • Just not wanting to talk about it.  With my now 5 year old, I have her tell me one special thing about her day.  I don't ask a lot of questions but as soon as she sees me or once in the car, she will tell me 1 thing she did that day.  I
