Convertible Carseat for 2002 2 door VW??

DH has a 2002 VW GTI (aka 2 door golf). My car, which is the primary is a Subaru and the main one baby will be riding in... So the plan is to get a infant carseat for that, and move to a convertible later on in the Subaru., and for the most part try and keep the Subaru as baby car, and the other would take the VW. (DH works from home, and I'll be home exclusively for the first 12w, then only in office 2/day after I return)

But it still seems ultimately we're going to need seats in both, so i was thinking of skipping the cost of added infant seat base and go straight to a convertible for the VW.

1. Does this make sense???

2. Any convertible car seat suggestions for a 2 door hatch batch with flip down back seats with no LATCH system? I KNOW it's going to be a pain in the a, especially during rear facing age...  I'm not super concerned about room in the front seat, but it would be nice...

    Rather than skipping to the convertable, we went with the infant seat and the base it comes with. The base was installed by our highway patrol in the center rear seat using the seat belt. Center seat position does not work with LATCH but they said it is

    I would use the infant seat baseless in the second car and wait to purchase convertibles until you know LOs growth patterns. Some seats are recommended more than others for taller children.

    I like convertibles from birth. Having said that, any seat that you get for those two cars that will fit rf at a 40 degree (newborn/infant) angle won't last you long rf. I'd look at an inexpensive infant seat that might last you till six months and get

    My husband drives a beetle, which was our only car until this summer, so for a while we had 2 RF in it!

    First and foremost, is the GTI a 4 seat car or 5 seat car? The beetle only seats 4. There is no center seatbelt and no way to install a carsea

    If it's a 5 seater that means you can install the carseat in the middle (assuming no backseat passengers) and have a little more room to play with. The radian is narrow, so it should leave a bit more room if there are slender passengers.
