Can I gripe for a sec? re: showers

If another SAHM says "I don't have time to shower" or "I have to shower with the baby b/c I never have time to" I may spit.

Ummmm...yeah, when I am at work I get to do things like shower and get massages.

No, I wake up at 5 so I can get ready before DD wakes up.  Novel idea right?

Re: Can I gripe for a sec? re: showers

  • I've always wondered about this.  My DD doesn't love the pack&play and would prefer not being in it when I shower .... but what's the big deal?  She's safe, has toys and a comfy pillow.  Am I a bad mom when I shower even though she whimpers for a minute or two?  I even put on make-up and blow dry.

My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.

  • lol - i just finished reading that post right before this one.  i don't get how people shower with their babies, but whatever.
  • Does the kid not nap or something?  I was able to shower, blow dry my hair and put on makeup in DS's 30 min nap when I was home with him.  Hell I could have done it in 15 minutes if need be.  No it wasn't the nice, long, relaxing shower I used to do, but I was clean and presentable.
  • That is one of my biggest pet peeves!!!  If you really want to take a shower, you will find the time, even if it means the baby cries for a few minutes...   I guess when you work, you don't have the choice to sit around in your PJs all day unshowered...
  • I have to say that it's a little easier when they're little.  This was my first week home with my kids after being laid off and I managed to not get in a shower on Tuesday (my 2nd day home!).  That never happened when I was on mat. leave, even when I had a 2 y/o at home.  I wasn't complaining about it, though.  I could have woken up earlier, I could have managed my time better, but by the time I had a chance to shower when the kids were napping, I was too tired and didn't care enough to do it.  lol!
  • I'm glad you posted this.  One of my friends is constantly griping about how she has not time for herself as a SAHM of two kids, but every time she updates her FB status she's drinking a glass of wine, watching a show she tivo'd, baking cookies, going to the gym, or relaxing after the gym.  Then she whines about how rough her days are.  It's really been annoying me.

  • Exactly, I get up before DS wakes up so I can shower!!
