Baby gift ideas

DH's BFF and his wife are having their first baby in July. They won't be having a shower as they feel it's bad luck and they aren't registering, but are willing to accept gifts from friends/family. I've asked them for ideas and they claim to have everything they need as hand me downs from family members.

My go to shower items for close friends are always the nosefrida, bamboobies, and mothers love nipple cream as new moms don't always know about them. But I always get a more significant gift as well, usually off the registry. Do I just get a gift card? Diapers? Any ideas?

    Diapers are always good, but do you know if they are doing disposables versus CDing?  A nursing pillow is also great if she will be nursing.

    If you want to go sentimental, you could do an embroidered blanket in the nursery colors or a silver frame for the first baby photo.

    If you want to go useful, Target gift card, diapers or a stylish diaper bag.

    What about a carrier?  I know for me that was the most useful thing in the early days (and sometimes still is). Ergos are on Gilt this week.

    If they are practical, you might buy them a diaper bag and stuff it full of diapers, cream, lotion, wash, boogie wipes, Starbucks gift card, Subway gift card, etc.  That might be fun.  Do they know that they can still register just for the compl
