School me on the progression with eating solids

Hi,

My son just started eating solids about a little over a month ago. He is a little over 7 months now.  I really struggled with getting him to eat, he would cry and cry and refuse to open his mouth. Now he eats but still cries a lot of the time. I feed him before his bottle because I couldn't get him to eat at all after his bottle. So what's next? I know some of my friends have their kids eating bite size foods already. I know my guy isn't ready for that yet. I bought some mum mum rice crackers and thinking on trying those soon.

Do I just start incorporating thicker texture food?

When did you start introducing bite size foods?

When did you start giving crackers?

Also, I have him eating breakfast and dinner and I'm the fence as to when to start giving him lunch soon. He still doesn't really enjoy eating so it is a pain in the butt to feed him. When did you start lunch or the third meal?

  • My LO wasn't big on solids at first.  I really think he just doesn't like to be spoon fed.  He likes to do it himself.  So, I've been using those mesh feeders.  I'll nurse him and then about half hour later I'll give him solids. &nb

  • I tried and tried with rice cereal and then oatmeal and then baby foods.  It was a disaster.  One day I was eating a pancake with little one sitting in my lap. He leaned over and grabbed a piece.  I quickly tried to grab it back, but it
