S/O runny nose = teething?

A mama on my BMB just mentioned that her daughter had crazy runny noses and icky diapers when she was teething...

Anyone else noticed this? M is teething right now, one is all the way through and another is just cutting through and she has a crazy runny nose and has had nasty diapers and an abnormal amount of just wet diapers too. But no other signs of a cold/virus, could this just be teething?

    Yup.  My DD always gets a runny nose just before a tooth cuts through.

    Teething usually results in an increase of saliva and mucous - I think because the body doesn't distinguish between where the extra gunk needs to me.  So that usually leads to more drool and more snotty noses.  And all that production

    That is the only way I know DD is cutting teeth. She doesn't fuss at all but sure enough she will have a runny nose and diaper rash until I see a new tooth pop up.

    Yes, DS had runny noses and was especially drooly during teething stages.

    True for DS.  He's cutting canine teeth right now and has both the runny nose and icky diapers. He doesn't seem to be as cranky about them as previous teeth.

    I think that's what we're dealing with right now.  Runny nose, low grade fever, and nasty diarrhea diapers.  (He's not having more frequent BMs than normal - just when he has them, they're nasty diarrhea).
