Natural Birth

Just found out I'm pregnant, now what?

So all the while I was awaiting the glorious day (which ended up not so glorious) I'd find out I was pregnant, I always thought about having a natural childbirth.  That just seems right, right? Natural. But the idea now that I'm actually pregnant, is a little more scary. Any ideas, opinions, thoughts, experiences?? OH PLEASE!

Re: Just found out I'm pregnant, now what?

  • Congratulations!  It seems like I just found out I was pregnant last week, and I'm now 4 days away from the 3rd trimester - time will fly by!

The first thing you want to do if you are considering natural childbirth is start researching

  • Congratulations! I suggest reading lots of books! After I finished a few natural birth books, I felt really confident and actually excited for the experience. I'd suggest using a midwife for your prenatal care too! Books I'd rec: Baby Catcher, Ina May'

  • Congratulations!

First of all, get passed the part where you think it's scary.  Think of it as "unknown".  It sounds weird, but a lot of how your labor is going to go is mental.  If you think it's going to hurt it's definite

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.

  • Congrats! I'd first call your doctor and he/she can direct you to an OB. From there you can get a doula/midwife/anything you prefer.

  • Thanks everyone! All the information definitely eased my mind, and I can't wait to do all this research! Haha, without this website, I think I may be rather clueless!! :)

5 weeks in, and so much more to go! :)

  •  OP- Since you are 5 weeks you have PLENTY of time to research caregivers, which is so nice.  I'd talk to friends or people you know who have had babies and get recommendations, do research on the local hospitals and birthing centers, see if
