We are about to take our first vacation with our LO who will be 9 months old. We have traveled a lot as a couple but this is our first time traveling with a baby and I am overwhelmed. We bought LO their own seat on the plane so we will have the car seat. I want to nurse baby during take off and landing to help with pressure in the ears. If I bought the baby a seat, do I have to to have the baby in the car seat during those times? My DH is really concerned about getting through airport security with the baby and what they are going to do. I wanted to baby wear but I read on the TSA site that the baby can be carried but not in a carrier. Can someone assure my DH and I that it isn't as bad as he is thinking and the baby is not going to be stripped and searched? Also with liquids... we always put liquids in our checked bag. With having LO with us we are going to have baby motrin and sunscreen (3oz) and things like that in our carry on bags. Any tips for that? The TSA site says the medications do not count towards the quart size bag and do not have to be presented, but if they go through and detect liquids won't they have to search the bags and all that? Also wondering how much to pack in a bag for the baby for the airport/flights. What did you bring? We CD baby but will be using disposables on this trip since we will be away from home over one week. I'm trying not to over think or over pack but I just don't know where to start. Anything you drug along that you wish you had not? Anything that you wished you would have brought? Basically anything that might ease my mind and let me look forward to this vacation! I have everything figured out about once we get to our destination, its the airport/flying/packing that has me in a tizzy right now.
Re: Traveling Tips for 9 month old
first of all- paragraphs are you friend! Second of all, relax! I did manage to get through this massive wall of text and here are my thoughts:
I am sure you can nurse baby off and on take even if you have a seat.
I'm not sure about babywea
The baby doesn't have to stay in the car seat in the plane. I never even brought
sorry typed that up in a haze while nursing LO. I should have waited until I could get on the computer to type.
Thanks for making it through my jumbled mess!
That is what I was going to do with all the baby liquids, put them in a bag
Thanks! I sure hope my LO sleeps, he can be hard to entertain sometimes! The sunscreen I bought for in our carry on is 3oz so it should be approved. Oh yeah I better take a change of clothes for myself. Disposable diapers do not hold in LO's baby poop!
In the "for what it's worth" category, we've flown twice now with the little one (and have 2 more coming up before his 1st birthday) and haven't bought him a seat yet. We have made a point to get to the airport a little earlier than we used to, a
We took our first plan ride with LO when he was just 3 months old, it wasn't as complicated as we expected. We didn't buy him a seat, but you will definitely be able to nurse him even though you did. Going through security isn't that difficult, we had
I just took my 4th cross-country trip with my DS. He was 9 months old this time but we've been traveling from PA to CA with him since he was 10 weeks. We bought him his own seat this time too. YES, you can nurse him on takeoff and landing - he doesn't
