Success after IF

Having a hard time deciding

Not going to lie ladies, I miss being pregnant! We have always wanted 2+. After IF we just hoped for 1 but now that we have 1 I want to start trying for 2 given how long it took us to get 1! I know I do not want to start until E is 6 months at least, but DH is set on when she is a year. Here is my dilemma with that - DH (as many of you have heard my story before) moved to CT for a new job last August. So he wasn't around for much of my pregnancy since I stayed with my current job which holds our health benefits (which also covers most IF expenses - I know, I am VERY LUCKY!!). I am still with that job since I used it for a long maternity leave that I have had mucho time saved up at. I am finishing out the semester at this job (I work for a university and I go back to work in 2 weeks but have the summer between June and August off). I am obviously going to job search in the CT area to be with DH while I am off for the summer, but the plan has always been if I cannot find a good job then to keep the one I have till I do. I don't want to be away from DH for the following year - however I highly doubt I will find a job that covers an FET.

I have 6 embryos just waiting for me... I hate to leave them and we are NOT in the financial position to throw money on a "maybe". So we would need our fertility coverage. I am struggling with do I try to transfer any before DH is ready but while we still have insurance or do I wait and chance that I might still have the insurance later? I am not looking for actual answers as I know it is my choice alone and I need to really sit down with DH and discuss this dilemma in further detail - I obviously don't want to transfer before he is at least a little ready, lol. I am just really venting and not sure what to do and wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation.

Re: Having a hard time deciding

  • So sorry it is so frustrating! Oh, to be one of those women who got pregnant when she wanted (and for free)! So unfair. I hear you on the missing pregnancy thing. I threw up until the day I delivered and had regular contractions from 31 weeks on. But,

  • I hear you. I miss being pregnant as well.

You have a tough choice. I can see your point of view that without insurance, you risk putting off number two indefinitely.

    Honestly, you both have

  • I hate that IF puts us in these situations. Its not an easy choice and no easy answer. I would wait until you are both ready.

This is obviously a very personal decision that needs to be made with your DH.  But is your DH able to get health benefits through his CT job?  There are stipulations within CT about infertilty coverage.  Not all companies ne

  • I think a lot of women feel that yearning for another within the first few months of having a baby.  Sometimes that feeling starts to lessen as you get further away from having been pregnant.  So, you  might be changing your mind in the

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

    This Cluttered Life

  • Unfortunately DHs insurance through his job is terrible and expensive. You ladies are absolutely right though, he needs to be 100% on board. He is considering trying sooner but I think we are going to table it till summer to see how we feel then.
