Is it too late to start CDing?

I'm thinking about starting with Allison soon because of the potty training advantages but I don't want to put a ton of money into it...I'm cheap.
I know we all went through this when MrsGlader started CDing but can we do it again...what do I need to start - bare minimum?

Thanks everyone! This is good information, I think we are going to get started soon on this. Especially now with DH working second shift, we are home with Allison more so daycare isn't a big issue anymore.
