If you follow me on IG you saw my frantic mom posts this morning. Let me start at the beginning.
Keagan woke with a 102 fever yesterday. I hemmed and hawed, couldnt figure out what was wrong with him and made the decision to bring him to the Pedi. The doctor said his throat was irritated, did a strep test and it came back negative. He was pretty confident that Keagan had some sort of throat infection.
In november Keagan had strep, he was put on amoxycillian (SP?) he puked for 5 days. Finally the doctor switched him to azythrimax (sp again, sorry) He puked for another 30 hours before I brought him to the doctor and they gave him the penicillian shot.
So yesterday I reminded my doctor all of this and he decided to put him straight on the azythrimax. I trusted he knew what he was doing. Well imagine my surprise when Keagan started puking at 6pm last night. He kept the tylenol down so I figured I would let him get a good nights sleep and re-assess in the morning.
He woke up this morning with a 102 fever. I gave him advil and tylenol and called the nurse line. The nurse wasnt convinced the azythrimax was making him sick and told me to give him another dose. Well sure as shyt he hasnt been able to stomach anything since, including anymore tylenol or advil. I went to put him down for a nap and his temperature was 103.
I tried giving him more tylenol and he just kept throwing it up. I pretty much said fluck it, put both the kids in the car and started driving. I called the Pedi on the way and said (rather dramatically) 'My kid has a 103 fever and cant hold any medicine down, am I bringing him there or to the emergency room?' The nurse said I could bring him in.
We saw a different doctor who pretty much vsaid 'yeah, his throat is bad, but if the antibiotics are making his stomach upset stop giving them to him' he gave us a suppository of tylenol if we couldnt get more medicine in him and sent us on our way.
I can't even process my emotions right now. If I cant get his fever down under 100 before bed tonight I'm just bringing him to the hospital. Any positive thoughts would be appreciated!
Re: An Update
Holly, I am so sorry! I think you are doing the right thing in trying to get the fever down, but did they not say anything about what could be done for the throat infection? Maybe you should ask for a referral to an ENT? I know a lot
So sorry. I hope he starts to feel better soon!

Hang in there Holly! Hope he's doing better soon!
FWIW - I'd probably go right to the ER and get a shot.

That is so scary!
FWIW, I can see the doctor thinking the azytrhomax being okay if it wasn't following amox.
Eric has had a reaction to both, but it is apparently rare to react to both.
