I wanted to get an idea if anyone else has spoken to their pediatricians about having low birth weight toddlers. Our LO is going to be 20 months on the 17th and weighs 21lbs and is 31 inches tall. We've been to sooo many MD's throughout his life as he was a preemie and had some other issues and I've always bought up my concerns and was always reassured that his growing fine. His pediatrician recently left the state, so we saw his new MD and he also agrees that he is growing fine and we dont need to be concerned. I just can't shake this worry that I have. He is significantly smaller than his peers, in height and weight and this is causing him to struggle in play as he's often pushed aside or can't keep up with the other kids. He eats very well, but we dont feed him junk food, he likes fruits and veggeis and I try hard to give him a well balanced diet. He also never sits still, he runs and plays constantly. I will be bringing up my concerns at the next appointment but I was wondering how to go about bringing it up again so that they'll so some testing to confirm he is growing ok.
Re: Small for his age
I don;t know any tests that you can do, but I can tell you that if you don't feel satisfied with the answers you get, maybe try your local Children's hospital. No one knows your son like you, so if you feel like there is cause for concern, then definite

As long as your son is staying on his growth curve and not dropping off or losing weight, he's probably fin. If none of the many drs you have seen are seeing any reason for concern, there probably isn't one.

My daughter is tiny too. She is following her growth curve though--which is good. But I still worry. She eats fairly healthy, and just is in constant motion.
