My baby has arrived!- Birth story

Our baby girl was born 12/2/08 at 9:23pm via c-section. She was 7lbs. 11oz and 20" long. It was a pretty smooth labor up until 8cm. I stalled there for 2 hours so they used pitocin to get things moving. I'd had the epidural at 7cm thank goodness! I started pushing at 10cm and for the first 30-45min. it went ok. The doc came in and checked and she was not face down, she was facing sideways. The epidural wasn't working the way it was suppose to so I was in incredible pain. They had me shift positions to see if she would move but it didn't work. By this time I'd been pushing for almost 2 hours and I knew my body couldn't take anymore so they prepped for c-section. That was the longest 30 min of my life waiting for them to get things prepped!! My baby girl made it into this world safe and healthy! She was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen! She went to the nursery with daddy and they continued to work on me. My uterus would not contract back down and I was bleeding terribly. The only way to stop the bleeding was for them to remove my uterus, which was a decision my amazing and strong husband had to make. So, in the end I had to have a hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries and eggs, but no uterus. We know now that making the decision to have the c-section saved my life. We are truly grateful and blessed and we know that God was in control of the whole situation. We love our little girl and are adjusting to life with a newborn!
