DH and I keep getting asked when we're going to have babies... but we haven't told anyone we're TTC. I've been reading getting ready and TTC posts for months... and I think I hit my limit. I started a few months before we were TTC, to be prepared and educated about various topics. We talk about all TTC stuff together, and he is pretty impressed with all the research I've done, but I could use a little encouragement from the ladies, and maybe some help.
We've been TTC since November, but I'm certain we didn't time it right then... December I was sick as a dog... January I bought an OPK and found out that I didn't O until Day 16 (I previously thought between days 12-15)! So, we thought, ok, we're really not TTC until now... and it still didn't work... and February (even using another OPK) didn't work. Right now, according to OPK #3, I'm Ovulating (again, consistently on Day 16)... and we're again TTC... the next two weeks will be so hard to wait...
I'm also getting nervous... At age 16, I was diagnosed with severely rupturing Ovarian Cysts... I found out when I was hospitalized for what they thought was Appendicitis. The cysts would get so large that when they ruptured, it literally tore through me. Thank goodness no unnecessary surgery, and the docs said I was ok (no ruptured Ovaries or anything), but I was put on BCP constantly since then (I'm now 30) using the hormones as a way to prevent the cysts from growing too big and exploding. My OBGYN said I'll probably be considered high risk when I'm eventually P, and when I talked to her at my last annual exam pre-TTC, she made me believe that I won't have any trouble TTC... but this weighs on me.
Now my DH is trying to make me feel better and says he thinks it's him... He's never been told he has any reproductive problems, but he was with me in the drugstore when I was picking up a new OPKand he saw a Sperm Test Kit... I told him don't bother. I know he's trying to keep me positive, and himself, but should we test him? Does anyone know of the STKs being reliable?
Has anyone else had "difficulty" TTC while using OPKs? I've heard so many stories of people having Trouble TTC, then they use OPKs and *snap*, they're P. I understand that for most couples TTC, it can take up to a year, which is why I put "difficulty" in quotes... but I'm finding it difficult to remain positive...
At any rate, typing this was therapeutic!
Re: I've read alot, feeling down... and need encouragement
Hang in there, it is tough! I was super naive when we started TTC, and just thought it would "happen" right away. I did more research on being pregnant than I did on getting pregnant. I did not prepare myself emotionally at all that it might

I am sorry you are having a hard time. I remember feeling frustrated at the beginning, wondering why it wasn't working when I was literally doing everything right. That said, you have a 20% chance each cycle if you time things perfectly. I know yo

You have only been trying a few months don't borrow trouble or worry. Take a breath and remind yourself that it can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive. I recommend charting your BBT along with OPKs, since it confirms O. </
