Art Project for 3 Year Old

I'm using my first vacation day of the year to babysit my cousin's 3 year old today. She is in Mexico for a wedding.

I had a fun day planned at the park and doing other outdoor activities, but it's pouring!

I'm thinking of trying an art project with him that could be a gift for his mom for Mother's Day I'll hide it in the house and tell her husband where it is.

Anyone have a cute idea? I thought of buying flower pots and helping him paint it?
