I need some suggestions. My 18 month old goes through spurts, sometimes for a few months straight, where she will wake up in the middle of the night. This is happening 3,4, sometimes 5 nights a week. Once she's awake, she's up for hours. I've tried not responding right away. She simply gets more upset and screams harder. I've tried consoling, then putting her back in her crib. Same response. I've tried letting her cry it out. If she's left for too long, she sticks her hand in her mouth and gags herself. She's thrown up in her crib a few times due to this. Her father and I both work full time jobs and are absolutely spent with taking turns staying up in the middle of the night with her. While up during the night, I've tried keeping her confined in her room, hoping she'd get bored and fall asleep. She throws fits. Staying in dark livingroom, only playing with toys, she still doesn't fall asleep. We've gotten to the point where we just sit and watch tv with ehr until she falls asleep. Not a good habit I know, but nothing else has seemed to help any better.
Re: 18 month old waking during night
I was thinking of asking the same question today! My DS also goes through days of waking up at night and can be up from 1-3 hours once he's awake. Luckily in our case, DS is content as long as we hold him in the chair. I will rock him
