Unpasteurized juice

I was just at my local farmers market and my daughter and I tried some unpasteurized pomagranate juice. I only was told it wasn't pasteurized until after I drank it. It was only about a teaspoon, but I am still worried!

Re: Unpasteurized juice

  • I wouldn't worry...I make my own juice and it's never pasteurized...and I've never gotten sick...plus it was only a little....I bet your fine :)

  • I think one teaspoon of pretty much anything won't be enough to cause you much of a problem, especially unpasteurized juice.  Don't worry, you're fine!

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • Thank you all for your reassuring replies. There was a lady with a baby there giving me her two bits after I drank it and she was talking about how lysteria can kill the fetus. She came from nowhere and she sort of freaked me out.
  • I freaked out when I saw the title of the post but after reading what u wrote I think you're alright. Just be careful from here on out and be sure to always check! I almost grabbed a quart of limeade that was clearly labeled unpasteurized but then noticed
  • I wouldn't worry.

  • It's not something I would do on purpose and I might have chewed them out for distributing unpasturized juice without telling people, but it was only a little bit.  Odds are you are fine.  Nothing you can do about it now anyway.

  • If it was freshly juiced and the fruit was washed before juicing, you don't have to worry.  If that's not the case, it's best to avoid it (though no reason to worry about it after the fact).
