Ear Infection?

I've had a cold for the past four days. I'm miserable but feeling better today. DS has been coughing and sneezing occaisionally but doesn't ACT that sick. I noticed him tugging on his right ear last night and a little today. Could he have an ear infection? He's not running a fever and acts fine other than the tugging. I'm just nervous. Would he have a fever if he had an ear infection? I know nothing, FTM mom here!

    We have a book called Baby 4-1-1 that we really like. It's written by pediatricians.  It says that if the only symptom is tugging on ears, it's almost never an ear infection.  DS had nine infections before we got tubes and DD has had three, and
