Natural Birth

Natiural Childbirth?

What do you consider a natural child birth? With my DD, I had no epidural but later found out that I was given pitocin.  I am kind of ticked lately because I took pride in what I thought was a "natural delivery".

Also, any moms out there that have denied pitocin or plan on denying it?

  • It's pretty common to be given pitocin after delivery. Even the very low-intervention hospital where I had DD administers it routinely to help reduce post-partum bleeding.

I wouldn't get too upset about it. I had it and very much needed it.<b

  • I had post-delivery pitocin and antibiotics. I still think my birth was natural, med-free, or whatever else I feel like calling it today. No one has any right to frame my birth in any other way.
  • Um, you totally rock.  You gave birth without pain meds while on pit- that is awesome!   Ignore all the nay sayers and be proud of your bad self!

Natural childbirth is a philosophy of childbirth that is based on the belief

  • I consider natural when you get no pain-meds.  But I think you can have your own opinion of it :)

  • Technically, I would say a natural birth is without any medical intervention or assistance, whether it be pain meds/induction/IV drips/forceps etc etc etc I think the location is completely irrelevant.

However, I think many refer to a natural bir

  • I think a natural birth is one with no pain meds, IV, medical intervention or unnecessary assistance.  I personally think you can have a natural birth in the hospital, your home or a free standing birth center.  The point of a natural birth is t

  • I consider natural to mean any vaginal birth that is at least pain med free. Sometimes intervention is needed and that's nothing to be ashamed of. And I don't think that to call a birth natural, it has to be a homebirth. To me, that's a a different catago
