Congestion...Cold or allergies?

Hello ladies,

My DS has been congested for quite some time now and I have tried all remedies suggested by his Ped (hang out in bathroom with shower running, elevated crib mattress etc).

His congestion and related cough (post nasal drip?) has not gone away, but the severity varies day to day. He does not seem to be laboring for breath at any point. His snots are clear and usually pretty fluid.

I am wondering if this could be seasonal allergies and if anyone has any other remedies for clearing his passages or at least making his little cough go away?

Thanks!

Re: Congestion...Cold or allergies?

  • Sounds like allergies to me, there are allergy medications out there for 0-9 month babies. But I would check first with you pedi before determining it's just seasonal allergies. As i said it sound like it but I am not a doctor...

  • Have you tried a cool mist humidifier or baby Vicks? And yes, babies can take allergy meds. Our allergist prescribed DS Xyzal around 6 weeks? We don't use it, but it's nice to know it's there if needed.
