Parenting after a Loss

Recommend your birth control

Well we are almost 2 weeks post delivery and already my OB is putting the pressure on for birth control. She presented me with Mirena IUD or Nexplanon implant. Before 3 years of TTC I was on oral meds so this is all very new to me. I'm going to insist on waiting until at least 6 weeks pp because it is advised by the FDA. Are any of you ladies using or have used either of these contraceptives? What is/was your experience? I know everyone is different I just want to see how others are doing on either of these. TIA!

  • I was on the mini-pill, and I just didn't like the way it made me feel. But I was totally over my oral birth control before we were TTCing, so, it really wasn't a surprise. I've heard good things about the Mirena. If we weren't planning to try again after

  • I'm on paraguard, it's like mirena but it's copper and somehow doesn't have to use any hormones.  Been on it for a few months now and have zero complaints.

  • I'm on the mini-pill, which seems to be the least bad option for us. We haven't had the "are we done?" conversation yet, so we're sticking with a temporary method until we know if we'll try for #3. If we're going to be 2 and through, I'll probably get
