Even if my husband and his family weren't Mormon, I'd probably still say no, because all the people I know don't give a crap about having too much around kids. Luckily, my husband and his family are Mormon haha.

I haven't had it at my kid's parties but I don't see anything wrong if someone else has beers or low grade drinks out at their parties, assuming that no one would get drunk or "overly happy"
I won't take alcohol anywhere if we're having a "destination" party (like at a park, firehall, etc). But for the small family get togethers we have at my parents, the wine is flowing!

Our family is far from the type who drink at every event, but my DS's first birthday featured a beer pong tournament during naptime. I am ashamed to say that the grandpas won.
We had DD's 1st birthday party at a restaurant/bar down the street from our house, so there was alcohol. If we had it at home we would probably serve alcohol as well.
