VENT: Mom told the big news :(
My sister found out she was pregnant and told my family and her husband's immediate family on Valentine's Day. They have an almost 4 year old and had a miscarriage a little over two years ago and have tried since to get pregnant again; so when she announced she was finally pregnant, it was obviously a big deal and a very exciting thing at that!
Because of the previous miscarriage, my sister wanted to wait awhile to tell anyone else. They recently had photo announcement cards made with my niece saying she was becoming a 'big sis'. My niece was so excited to give them out to family Easter weekend and to tell the big news, since she, the almost 4 yr old, has had to keep the secret this long.
So Easter weekend rolls around and our mother goes with my sister and niece to share the big news with some of our family, only to find out that my mom had TOLD THEM ALREADY!!!!
Easter service at church rolls around and my mother proceeds to stand up and announce that she's going to be a grandma again...yup, she announced instead of allowing my niece the joy of telling people she was going to be a sister.
...And when my mom is telling me about this (because of course I hear both sides of this ordeal) she says, "Oh whatever, it's not that big of a deal that I told" --- Really?! My niece can keep a secret and you're not adult enough to let her finally tell?!
