Sleep and baby overnight trips?

My LO is 7 mo old and we've been having him sleep in his crib overnight for just a few weeks.

My FIL had a heart attack and so my husband and I are going to stay over at their house for a week so I can take care of FIL while he recovers.  LO of course will be going with us.

We have a swing and a pack n play.  Should I take both?  Swing for naps and packnplay for nights?  It doesn't seem like packnplays are hardy enough for sleeping.  I don't want to confuse the poor kid though and go back to co-sleeping.

WWYD?  FIL has a small cradle/bassinett thing that I could also use.  He's not sitting up so I think it would be safe.  Thoughts?

  • My LO has been in her crib from day one. However when we visit family (week long trips) she sleeps in a Pack'N play. It worked fine and didn't confuse her, she went right back to her crib without issue at home. I say bring that. Only bring the swing if sh

  • We had an emergency situation this week and had to fly with LO to my parents. DD use to co sleep but has been sleeping and napping in her crib for 2 months with no problems. Well, she refused to sleep in the pnp while at my parents. Cried bloody murder an
  • We just got back from an overnight trip.  Used the PnP, but I did buy a real mattress for it, didn't expect him to be comfortable on that thin bottom it comes with.  He slept pretty well in it, but in general he's a good sleeper.
  • The pack n play should be good for sleeping for a few days. Making it the baby's permanent bed is what would be bad but that's not the case for you. If you use a swing for naps, then take it, otherwise the pack n play should do. One suggestion I have

  • I would take the PnP. My DH and I just got back from a week long vacation with DD and she slept wonderfully in the PnP. She transitioned right back to her crib when we returend home with no problems. I worried about it for the weeks leading up to our
