August 2012 Moms

To those with fur babies...

I have a Great Dane named Maximus who has been SO great with August since day one. Very protective [he even will push me out of the way if he thinks I'm tickling August too much] and always very gentle and patient. Now that August is rolling all over the place he is able to get over to max and will pet him. Max is always super good about it and lays very still.

Like I said. Always very gentle. Patient. Protective.

Then this morning while August was rolling around he got to one of max's toys. Max jumped over very quickly, and snatched the toy away from August. So yeah, he was basically doing my job, [I was on my way over to grab it promise] but how fast he moved makes me really nervous, especially with his teeth. And I know as August gets more mobile this is going to become a more frequent scenario.

For those of you who have pets, have you experienced this with your dogs? How did you handle it? I was shocked because max has been so good so far, and wasnt sure what to do. August was fine, it didn't even scare him, but I'm just worried about the potential of max getting more pushy about it.

  • Dogs make me nervous.

I'm guessing that when August starts moving around more and gets a little more aggressive, your dog will just adjust.

She has been very protective of Aiden from day 1. He is now moving and able to go pet her when he wants. she always looks to me to remind the baby "soft" with her,

  • I have two dogs one big and one little. They both love the R to peices but I keep all their toys either outside or in their kennel when R is playing in the floor. Also I agree with pp about teaching the dog the wait command.
