From what I remember with my 2 DDs solids weren't introduced until 6 months. Typically with some grain cereal. But I was surprised when my Dr said that we could start at our 4 month appointment if I chose to do so. I didnt think to get an answer to what (if any) benefit there was to start solids at 4 months rather than at 6.
He did tell me that there has been some research done to not avoid some of the more common "high allergen" food types as long as once recommended like eggs, strawberries and peanut/butter. But did not explain if there was any significant benefit or difference in waiting until 6 months to start solids at all.
DS is EBF and is right on target for growth, has occasional sleeps through the night (albeit random) so I'm really in no hurry to start. Just wondered if anyone has any info on it. Thanks.

I will be waiting until at least 6 months.
My son was ready at 4 months. He was sitting up, interested in us eating, and also downing 35oz of formula per day. Our pediatrician said when they start heavily drooling they are producing enough enzymes in saliva to break down food.

I'll start when she's ready, whether that's 4 mos or 7 mos. I think DS was almost 5 mos.
I'm personally really sick of AAP suggestions taken as law by some mothers. I wish people could learn to think for the
