I like it and considered it for our daughter. I think it is a beautiful Hebrew name. I stopped telling people what we were naming our daughter because of the mixed and negative reactions we were getting. If you like it, name her it!
Love Naomi, not a fan of Noemi. Naomi would've been high up there for us, but DH said it "nigh-omi" and I was saying it "Nay-omi" so we just kinda scratched it.

when I first read this, I thought it was no-me (like the character in Showgirls). After reading how it is pronounced (no-em-me) I think it sounds like "no whammy" like from that game show Press your luck.
Maybe it's because I know a Noemi, but I really like it. As far as I know she's never had difficulty with pronunciation or people thinking her name is Naomi.
I prefer Noemi to Naomi because it has a softer sound.
It's the french pronunciation so it seems totally normal to me although maybe weird on an anglophone

I had a coworker with this name but everyone always mispronounced it as Naomi. I actually like Noemi better but it was annoying to me even that people couldn't pronounce it right!
My 2 girls, both born on a Friday the 13th, are exactly 2 years, 2 months, 2 hours and 2 minutes apart! And Baby Boy joined us October 11, 2013!
Maybe it's because I live in an area with a significant Latino population, but Noemi doesn't seem at all unfamiliar or confusing to me. When I worked at a dance school about a decade ago, we had at least two little Noemis.
Random alert: Remember back in spanish class in HS where you got to pick your "spanish name"? I was Noemi for 4 yrs of HS Spanish class and love the name, but always was called Naomi off the bat. I prefer Noemi to Naomi as well.
Re: Noemi
Dumb question- how do you pronounce it? I thought it was no-em-ee but then I heard it as naw-em-ee. Subtle difference but I prefer the first way.

I'm willing to settle for Naomi.
When I first saw it, I just thought it was Naomi spelled in a different way.
I would suspect that she would probably have to deal with correcting people on how they pronounce it.
Naomi is much better IMO.
Noemi is far too close to Naomi that most people when reading it quickly the first time will just assume is is Naomi.
I would pronounce Noemi as "no-em-ee" and I don't really like how that sounds.

I like Naomi a lot bet

Naw-em-ee <shudder>
I've never heard it pronounced that way but, I definitely don't like it.
I would have missed the separate em part in the middle.

I have a best friend named Niomie (pronounced Ny-O-me) which I love. I also have a friend who is dating a girl named Noemi.
I prefer both Noemi and Niomie to Naomi but all options, I think, are very pretty names.

I think it's pretty. <b
