Baby Showers

When to have the baby shower

Let me start off with saying my friend who is planning my baby shower has been keeping me in the loop, and always asking for planning assistance and all that, so I'm part co-hosting my own shower (kinda sucks, I know, but whatever).

Anyway, so we're trying to put together dates that work for 1. My mother-in-law 2. The lady who's house the shower will be at. 3. Vacation schedules, 4. School schedules, as my friend who is hosting is taking college classes. and 5. Work schedules.

It looks like the weekend that works best is the 2nd weekend of June, which is when I'll be about 36 weeks pregnant!!! Is that too late? Anyone have a baby shower that far along, how did it go?

  • I think it will probably be just fine.  And, if it's really the only date that works, you don't really have other options, so you have to go with it.

  • It would make me a little nervous.
I want to have plenty of time to get gifts unpacked, clothes and sheets washed, etc. Like the previous poster said, if that's your only option, go for it, but I think 34 weeks is a good cut off.

  • It depends on how far away the shower is. If it is an hour plus, 36 weeks might not be ideal. If it is in the same town as you live or close by 36 weeks is fine. That is still plenty of time to get everything bought, washed, and put away.

  • I had my shower at 36 weeks. It was fine. I sat at my mom's house, ate food, talked with my friends and family, and opened gifts. The next weekend, DH and I went to BRU and exchanged what we got duplicates of, bought other stuff we needed, and that was it

  • I just had mine at 34 weeks and was totally fine (I know it's 2 weeks earlier but I can't see that much of a difference at 36)...mind you I stayed sitting the whole time since I've been on light bed rest.  I think every person is different in how
