Do you guys live in the city or in the suburbs (or the country)?
Currently my husband and I live with L and our small dog in the city but are thinking about moving out to the suburbs when he begins school in a few years. Taxes are expensive in the suburbs for this part of the country so we may just stay in the city and pay for private school since that would be about the same for one child as taxes.
Anything you like/dislike about having one child and living in either place?

We live in between. Not in a huge city, not in the country. There are 66k in my city. I could never, EVER live out in the country. It's just not me, or my family. When I visit a friend who lives in no-where land, I get really ticked when my
DH and I lived in the city for 11 years, 2 of them was w/ DS. We've now been in the county for 2 years, but we're 15 minutes from downtown.

I am a city lover for sure. We live in Chicago, not the suburbs, and enjoy so many things we have within walking or public transportation of us. There are parks all over, there are indoor activities for kids and adults, and I could not live witho
We live in the city and love it.
Things I love about city living are walking to the grocery store, taking public transportation instead of driving everywhere, lots of locally owned small businesses and restaurants, five public parks within walki

DH and I are both very much city people, but right now we live in a small town. It's pretty much all white collar but only about 60,000 people and it's a three hour drive to anything bigger. Not as simple as a bedroom community.

This is all so interesting. Agreed -- NYC living and cost is definitely part, but not all, of our being OAD. I do really love all the activities I can take him to though -- I just signed him up for swimming lessons within a ten minute
We are in the 'burbs. We are currently in a condo - so the downside is space. We are hoping to afford a house where we live within the next 5 years. We moved here because of the schools, they are the best in the county.

I wish we lived in the city to be closer to work. The commute is really hard on all of us and the schools in our 'hood suck anyway, so as long as we have to do private I'd rather live in the city.

We live in the suburbs and I hate it. The schools are just okay, you have to get in your car to drive anywhere, the restaurants are all chains, and there's little to no diversity (of any kind).
I really, really want to live in the city. Tons of s

We live in the suburbs now (pretty much right over the city/county line). Tax-wise it is WAY more expensive to live in the city than here. DD will go to public school and the county public schools are SO much better than the city schools. I like being

We are in a large suburb about 10 minutes from the city. It's a good compromise. Eventually we will have a yard (in a condo now) but we can still go into the city to do the "city stuff."
I grew up in a very small town and I prefer l
