Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Baby HATES Bassinet

Hi All, so my little baby girl does not like her bassinet. In fact, if I don't hold her, she doesn't go to sleep. I'm now putting her in her swing and she likes it better but she still won't sleep for an extended period in her swing. The only time she sleeps her full 3 hours (that's her schedule) is when she's being held. She's 3 months now and was born at 31 weeks. I get a lot of criticism about making her a "hand baby" but I think she developed this need of wanting to always being held because she came so early. Any mom having the same issue?

  • My LO napped on me for the first 3 to 4 months and I loved it. At night he slept in his bassinet though. Eventually I changed his whole nap routine and ended up putting him up in his crib at around 4 months and after a few days of being consistent he was
  • I'm curious as to why she has a schedule with a three hour nap... If she doesn't usually sleep three hours, maybe she is putting herself on a different schedule.

Is she swaddled for naps? That might give her the sensation of you holding her.

  • Thanks to all for responding,,,She gave herself the 3 hour schedule after leaving the NICU. She eats every 3 hours. So whether she sleeps an entire 3 hours in between feedings or she plays and sleeps, it varies. So if she eats at 6, she's hungry by 9 and

  • If she has reflux make sure if you do decide to try putting her down that her bassinet is inclined. Try putting books under one end. That's probably why she prefers the swing! It helps with the reflux pain and helps keep milk in their tummies. Don't ever
  • We literally could not put down DD during the first 2 weeks of her life. She would be so hysterical if we tried. DH and I took turns holding the baby and having her sleep on top of us 24/7. At around 3 weeks old I was able to get her to sleep in the bed s
