Teething question

I checked M's gums today, and noticed that one of his 2 lower front teeth is about to (or already has?) break through the gum. Between that and his first cold (cough & stuffy nose), perhaps that's why he hasn't been napping the best the last few days?

My question is, once the tooth has broken through the gum, how long does it take for the tooth to fully emerge? Are we talking a day or 2, or more like a week? And does the other lower tooth usually follow right behind? How about the upper teeth?

Would love to hear your experience.

E's first tooth took 3 or 4 days from first feeling a sharp edge to seeing tooth above the gum. That has been 3 weeks and it's still the only tooth. But she has had her finger in her mouth for 3 days now, so maybe number 2 is on it's way.

Once we felt the first 2 (both of her bottom teeth came in the same time) it took a few weeks for them to pretty much come out. Then, one of her upper front teeth came out and then a few weeks later the other one. We haven't seen any more sinc

With DS the worst was always the days before we could actually see the tooth popping through. Every baby is different, but DS's teeth would come through quickly once we could see them. Teething is the worst! I hope you get some sleep soon!

Funny! I checked today and sure enough tooth number two has broken the skin right next to the first one. Right at 3 weeks apart. FYI the 2nd tooth isn't hurting with nursing but I'll let you know when a top tooth comes in.
